The Mason Bar Opens It’s Doors

Mason Bar, a new bar in uptown, opened its doors last Thursday to a packed house to celebrate their grand opening. What was once a Masonic Temple, has been transformed into a hip swanky gastro pub in the trendy Uptown Dallas neighborhood. DJ Elizabeth Farrel was rocking the crowd, which packed it in for its opening night. Continue reading

Gettin the Spice On at ZestFest 2012

ZestFest 2012 went down this past weekend in Las Colinas at the Irving Convention Center & I have finally recovered enough to write this post & conjure the memories of spice inferno.

The Irving Convention Center is the new dominating structure on your way to DFW via Northwest Highway (loop 12). We quickly found our way without encountering any traffic, parked & hopped our shuttle toward the land of spice. Tickets were $15/each for entry, which was a fair price to pay for the abundance of samples ahead. Continue reading

Fireside Pies is AWESOME

Fireside Pies WINS for being awesome. Well, actually, it was my lady & I who won as we decided to go there for a Friday night date night and ended up having a great time as we ate some incredible food. After salivating over all of the available pizza options in Dallas, we decided to start at the top of the list with Fireside Pies on Henderson & we were glad we did.

You can tell them what time you are planning on coming. So it’s kind of like a reservation, however it is a first come-first serve basis. When we got there, we had a 30 minute wait post checking in. However, we got lucky & had two available stools for us at the bar so we decided to jump right in (we were hungry). Continue reading

Best Pizza In Dallas?

Judging by her post, it seems as if she has a pretty good take on the pizza scene here in Dallas (& pizza in general). Being that I have yet to try any of these places myself since I have returned to Dallas (only one of them has been opened in Dallas longer than 10 years), I am going to have to test this list out for myself.

Here is the ranking…

5. Fireside Pies: Pizza dough looks really thick & doughy (in a good way), and the toppings look hearty. I have heard good things about this pizza and am excited to try it.
